A Dutch weekend

Selamat malam!
Another busy weekend here in Indo.
Friday, the boys celebrated the annual 'Koningsspelen' at their (Dutch) school. They were still looking for volunteers, so Nena and I decided to offer our help. We were given the powerful position of 'team leader' (see photo) which basically implies walking after a group of 4/5/6 year olds, making sure they participate in the games and won't run away. After all more fun than I've expected it to be! Saturday we went to one of the many, enormous malls in Jakarta. And you guys never guess what I've done there.. Iceskating! Yea, iceskating in Indonesia, who would've thought that.. It was really busy and chaotic on the ice rink though. Exactly like the traffic here, omg I won't even start about that. The only two words I can say about the traffic here are 'macet bangit', go figure that out haha.
Sunday the 4th of May we went to the Dutch cemetery of people who were killed in Indonesia during, and after WWII to attend the Remembrance Day Ceremony. The whole Dutch community in Indonesia was present and it almost felt as if we were in Holland itself. After the 2 minutes of silence and the singing of the Dutch national anthem everyone got a flower to lay on one (of the many!) graves. After all a very impressive day.
Tomorrow our internship will start, so I'm going to sleep. Sampai nanti!

Jullie hebben het daar wel naar jullie zin zo te zien! Je hebt ook hele leuke foto's genomen. Nog heel veel plezier daar en succes met de stage.. Ik zal aan jullie denken terwijl ik morgen op school ben :( Xxxx
